Andrew Dunn’s The Change Agent explores the political career and legacy of former North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory (Young Leader 1996), from his tenure as mayor of Charlotte to his rise as a nationally recognized governor. Drawing on more than 300 hours of interviews, the book examines McCrory’s leadership, the controversies surrounding House Bill 2, conflicts with legislative leaders, Hurricane Matthew, and his narrow 2016 election loss. The result is an in-depth look at a consequential chapter in North Carolina politics and the challenges of leadership in a deeply divided political environment.
