Class of 2016

In 2016, the Young Leaders Conference, sponsored by Syngenta and Swiss International Air Lines, was held for the third time in Basel. The classes of 1998 and 2010 also enjoyed spending a week in Switzerland’s third-largest city, the country’s capital of art and culture, and home to global chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The class of 2016 included Nicole Alexander-Scott, director of the Rhode Island Department of Health; The Honorable Wes Ward, secretary of agriculture for the state of Arkansas; Romina Boccia, director of the Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget at The Heritage Foundation; The Honorable Art Linares, CEO of Linares Land Capital LLC; Danny Cevallos, legal analyst for MSNBC; Dieter Geering, senior public policy manager for Zurich Insurance; The Honorable Ryan Quarles, agriculture commissioner of Kentucky; The Honorable Russell Ott,  member of the South Carolina House of Representatives serving the 93rd District; Julie Zann, principal at Zann Media; The Honorable Julie Emerson, member of the Louisiana House of Representatives representing the 39th District; and Ajay Kori, co-founder  and chairman of Urban Stems.

The class also included Vanessa Beary, director of alumni relations for the American Swiss Foundation; Emma Ashford, research fellow at the Cato Institute; Christian Sigg, senior director of Swiss International Air Lines; Ian Northon, attorney at Rhoades McKee; Ying Ma, public policy expert and author of Chinese Girl in the Ghetto; Jason Browne, founder and CEO of Spor Solar Chargers; Amit Nastik, global head of strategy and operations for Novartis; Marc Brülhart, head of Project Excellence & Services at Implenia; Caroline Wagner, head of human resources support for Syngenta; Alexander Wuethrich, COO of KRAFTWERK Europe; James Reardon, attorney at Froriep; Paul Young, director of housing and community development for the City of Memphis; and Johannes Wettstein, director of the investment banking department for UBS.
