In 2012, the Young Leaders Conference, sponsored by Zurich Insurance Group and Swiss International Air Lines, was held for the fourth time in Zurich. The classes of 1997, 2000, 2002, 2013, and 2017 also enjoyed spending a week together in Switzerland’s largest city and global center of finance and banking.
The class of 2012 includes Josh Barro, business columnist for New York magazine and host of KCRW’s Left, Right & Center, a weekly public radio program that provides a ”civilized yet provocative antidote to the self-contained opinion bubbles that dominate political debate”; John Farrar, industry director for education at Google, and one of the key partners of ASF’s inaugural Tech Tour to Silicon Valley; Karine Szegedi, managing partner of Deloitte Private for Switzerland and member of the Swiss Executive team; Brian Fitzpatrick, visiting professor at Harvard Law School and author of The Conservative Case for Class Actions; Taylor Rhodes, CEO of Applied Systems, a leading global provider of cloud-based software that powers the business of insurance; Sandro Streit, head of asset management at Swiss National Bank; Ueli Studer, Head Legal Corporate Center Services at UBS; Peggy Bächli, senior audit manager for Swiss Re; and Guha Bala, president of Velan Ventures, Inc., an innovation investment company with a focus on games and game-related technology companies.
