The fifth Young Leaders Conference, sponsored by Credit Suisse and Swissair, was held at the beautiful country estate “Bocken” in Horgen, high above Lake Zurich. In 2006, the conference would be hosted again at the picturesque Credit Suisse conference center. A third of all Young Leaders Conferences have been hosted near Lake Zurich. Hard hats were required for a visit to a Holcim cement plant.
The class of 1994 included Kent Anker, president of the Young Leaders Alumni Council, and executive vice president and general counsel for Democracy Prep; Josh A. Berger, president and managing director of Warner Bros UK; Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer; Jeff Carneal, principal at Red Dog Strategies and member of the board of advisors for Newsmax Media; Dr. Michael P. Farris, chancellor emeritus of Patrick Henry College, and chairman, president, CEO, and general counsel for the Alliance Defending Freedom; Douglas Hopkins, who spent seven years sailing around the world with his wife and two daughters; The Honorable Daryl L. Jones, Florida state senator (1992–2002), member of Florida’s House of Representatives (1990–1992), and first African-American to run for governor in Florida; Jim McGreevey, 52nd governor of New Jersey and member of the New Jersey Senate (1994–1998) and General Assembly (1990–1992); Commander David S. Points; Christoph F. Schaer, managing partner at Orion Wealth & Corporate Advisory; Reto Wilhelm, CEO of Kuoni Global Travel Services; Mark Wojcik, professor at the John Marshall Law School; and Patricia Woodworth, interim CFO at the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
