Pascale Bruderer (YL '08) & Christa Markwalder (YL '06) were re-elected to the National Council this October.

Pascale Bruderer (YL '08 and President of the National Council 2009/2010) was elected, October 24, to the Senate representing Aargau. This is the biggest upset in the recent elections and the first Senate seat won by a Social Democrat in Aargau in more than 60 years. Pascale and her husband, Urs Wyss, are the happy parents of a healthy baby girl named Juliana, born a week before the elections.

Christa Markwalder (YL '06) has been a member of the National Council of Switzerland since 2003. She currently chairs the Committee for Foreign affairs and was elected Chairwoman of the Swiss-U.S. Parliamentary Association in Spring 2011. Christa was re-elected to the National Council despite election losses for her party (FDP-center business party) to the “Green Liberal Party” (GLP, new centrist environmental party) and the BDP (new center-right split-off from Blocher’s SVP).
