Nate DaPore (Young Leader 2013)
President and Chief Executive Officer, PeopleMatter
What do you like most about Switzerland?
The people and the precision in everything. The hospitality reminded me of the South in the U.S. where I am from and was the best I have seen in Europe.
What do you like most about the USA?
Entrepreneurial spirit and opportunity. It's still the greatest country on Earth to start a business and the sky truly is the limit.
What defines your leadership style?
Empowering Innovation - I strive to lead our team members to aspire higher with innovation and vision while supporting them in their journey.
Who inspires you?
My parents. Both successful entrepreneurs.
What is your greatest achievement?
Being a part of a team that built the largest benefits software company (Benefitfocus) in the U.S. and launching PeopleMatter (the current software company I have the pleasure of leading). Both were launched during the recessions of 2001 and 2008 respectively.
Do you have any weaknesses?
Impatience. Still striving for the virtue of patience.
Where do you live?
Sullivan’s Island, SC (outside of Charleston, SC)
What is your favorite place in the world?
The Exumas - a small chain of islands in the Bahamas. Quiet, remote, incredible scenery, amazing beaches and water. Cell phones don't work on most of the islands.
What is the best book you ever read?
How to Make Friends and Influence People, by Dale Carnegie
What is your goal in life?
To build a 100 year company that will be around long after I am gone and continue to positively change lives through technology.
