In 2013, the Young Leaders Conference, sponsored by LafargeHolcim and Swiss International Air Lines, was held for the fourth time in Zurich. The classes of 1997, 2000, 2002, 2012, and 2017 also enjoyed spending a week together in Switzerland’s largest city and global center of finance and banking.

The class of 2013 included ASF board member Nate DaPore, managing director of health care and technology for Acertitude; the Honorable Andrew Gillum, former mayor of Tallahassee (2014 to 2018) and 2018 Democratic nominee for governor of Florida; The Honorable Gabriela Mosquera, member of the New Jersey General Assembly serving the 4th District; Anna Edney, health policy reporter for Bloomberg News; Manu Raju, senior congressional correspondent at CNN, covering the U.S. Congress and campaign politics; Niklaus Nuspliger, political correspondent for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung; Andreas Bach, senior executive of Swiss Re; Martin Arregger, managing director of Credit Suisse; and Tom Sanderson, consultant and co-founder and former director of the Transnational Threats Project at the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS).

The class also included the Honorable Dave Aronberg, state attorney for Palm Beach County, Florida, and a former member of the Florida Senate; Valérie Petitpierre, head of delegation for the Central African Republic at the International Committee of the Red Cross; Eric Wohlschlegel, director of media relations at the American Petroleum Institute; Dr. Alexander Braendle, director of global business services and member of group executive board for Hotelbeds; the Honorable Mike Lake, president and CEO of Leading Cities; Dr. Jamey Nye, deputy chancellor for Los Rios Community College; Christina Bellantoni, professor of professional practice and director of USC Annenberg’s Media Center at the University of Southern California; Daniel Rothschild, executive director of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University; Greg Cangialosi, chairman and co-founder of Betamore, managing member of the Baltimore Angels, and active advisor and investor to several companies in the mid-Atlantic region; and Amanda Martinez, CEO of Bull Moose Energy Ventures.
