In my almost 40 years of work on behalf of the people of New York, I have devoted myself to improving our quality of life, shaping and leading on the city's critical issues, and upholding our common values. As Council Member I have focused on building and improving schools and parks, preserving and creating affordable housing, supporting seniors, and protecting our "mom and pop" businesses. On city-wide issues, I have been a leader in standing up for the rights of workers, passing the country's most comprehensive open data law, and banning smoking in parks and on beaches."
