For Alex Pieper, leadership is about responsibility, collaboration and shaping the future with people at the center. Born in the United States and deeply rooted in Switzerland, Alex brings a strong transatlantic perspective to his work. This dual background shaped an open mindset, curiosity for new ideas and a deep appreciation for collaboration across cultures. His professional journey began with a metalworking apprenticeship, long before boardrooms and strategy discussions. Those early years built a lasting respect for craftsmanship, precision and teamwork. “You learn quickly that quality and progress are always the result of people working together”, he reflects.
Today, Alex Pieper serves as a member of the Group Management at Artemis Group and Member of the Board of Directors at Artemis Holding AG, Chairman of the Franke Group and Chairman of the KRAFTWERK Group. He is also a Member of the Board of Glas Trösch Group, Franke Industry and Twinner. Across all these roles, his focus is consistent: long term value creation through innovation, sustainability and operational excellence. Teamwork lies at the heart of his leadership philosophy. Alex believes that strong organizations are built when people feel trusted, empowered and aligned around a shared purpose. Innovation and sustainability are not buzzwords in his work, but practical commitments guiding investment decisions, manufacturing strategies and talent development.
Outside his professional responsibilities, Alex enjoys sailing, skiing, traveling and cooking as well as spending time in his home workshop, where prototyping and hands on experimentation fuel his creativity and curiosity. Beyond business, Alex is deeply engaged in the American Swiss Foundation, serving as a Board Member and Co-Chair of the Alumni Committee, supporting transatlantic dialogue and responsible leadership.
