Created in 1945, the New York-based American Swiss Foundation, originally called "American Friends of Switzerland," seeks to preserve and strengthen the historic friendship between the United States and Switzerland on a person-to-person basis. A private, non-profit organization, the Foundation traditionally focuses on developing and managing various activities of its own, both in the U.S. and Switzerland, rather than serving as a funding source for outside programs. Foundation programs include an Annual Young Leaders Conference in Switzerland which is now entering its 19th year, an Annual Dinner in New York featuring a national or international keynote speaker, and several discussion events annually on public issues of the day, which are held in New York and other U.S. locations and in Switzerland. |
